OUR HERITAGE
Since 1960
In 1950, after surviving the Holocaust, my grandfather David Mark emigrated from Germany to the city of Boston in search of a better life for his family: his wife Gizi, their three year old son Lee (my dad), and their two year old daughter Dana.
David spent the next ten years settling into life in Boston and working as a tailor for a number of iconic Boston retailers, including Jordan Marsh, Mosher’s Men’s Store, and Sid Segel’s tuxedo rental business (which later became Mr. Sid).
After ten years of working for others, my grandfather was finally able to open his eponymous Boston-based tailor shop, Mark The Tailor. He eventually moved the shop to the first floor of the iconic Motor Mart Garage in the heart of Boston.
In partnership with his wife Gizi, he ran his shop, crafting and tailoring garments for the people of Boston until the day he passed far too early in 1969.
